Fitness Background: Slacker who has done some halfs, a couple of duathalons and 1 sprint tri.

Favorite non-gym way to be active: Riding my bike or chasing the kiddos.

Hands down best song to work out to? Really it depends on my mood, I like a LOT of music

Now the nitty-gritty workout stuff…

When did you first try CrossFit and what made you want to try it? I tried CrossFit back in 2013. My brother-in-law had started and was loving it. I was bored with my running and bootcamp and wanted to try something new. I liked it, but the place I was at wasn’t the best fit and I quit when I was pregnant with Ian.

What makes you stick with CrossFit? I love the challenge of doing something that is hard and that you completely suck at, but then keeping at it and watching yourself improve, even if it’s just a little bit.

Favorite movement: Overhead squats

Least favorite movement/something that’s hard for you: That’s a toss-up between that frickin’ Ski Erg machine and wallballs.

What gets you through tough workouts? I’m too damned stubborn to stop.

What keeps you motivated? The journey and the people around me.

Proudest Elevate moment to date? PR-ing my clean during the Open this year!

Hobbies outside of killing it at the gym: Ummmm I do stuff.

Changes you’ve seen from working out at Elevate: I have muscles that can be seen (so I’ve been told).

How has CrossFit helped you outside of the gym: Haha, I’m a nicer person - my workout is my attitude adjustment. It also makes me prioritize self-care more than I have in the past.

How do you balance working out with family life? There really isn’t a balance - my workout is a habit. If I can’t make it to the gym, I do one at home. It’s just part of my day.

What’s your favorite part of bringing your kid(s) to the gym? It’s probably not the normal answer, but I love it when my kids get to see me or even others struggle with a movement or a weight. They get see that even if you don’t get something the 1st time or the 100th time, you don’t stop trying.
