Let’s get to know YOU!
Name: Michelle Lea Macias
Any nicknames? No
Hometown: El Campo, TX
Fitness Background: In high school I played tennis and was on the swim team.
Favorite non-gym way to be active: Swimming
Favorite hobby: Lifting! I would be at the gym 24/7 if I could.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mexican food :)
Describe yourself in one word: Grateful.
Biggest health and fitness goal: My biggest health goal was fasting for 3 days, and I did it. It was crazy, but so good and I'm so glad I did it. My biggest fitness goal would be back squatting 245lbs. and deadlifting 265lbs.
Now the nitty-gritty workout stuff…
What made you want to try CrossFit? I really just wanted to join a gym and be more active.
What makes you stick with CrossFit? The people I work out with are amazing... and that goes for every class I've gone to at Elevate, by the way!
Favorite movement: Power cleans
Least favorite movement/something that’s hard for you: Pull-ups
What gets you through tough workouts? The people around me telling me to keep going. It's the best motivation.
What keeps you motivated? The progress that I've made in my life since I started going to Elevate. Being constant in the gym has led to feeling better overall, being better overall, wanting more, and striving to have a better, more positive life with health and fitness.
Proudest Elevate moment to date? Getting my coworker Melva Vela to join and her falling in love with it, too! <3
Hobbies outside of killing it at the gym: Hanging out with my friends.
Changes you’ve seen from working out at Elevate: So many lifestyle changes! I've changed how and what I eat and drink and started caring about my body as a whole... which has definitely helped me see exactly *what* it is I love about myself.
How has CrossFit helped you outside of the gym: I have better mobility at work with my wrists and arms. Stretching has made such a huge difference and I've gained so much overall body strength.
How do you balance working out with life? Well, it's just me and my daughter Paisley, and she goes where I go. She'll know for the rest of her life that your health matters and that physical activity matters. Even if it's at 5am, you have to fit in working out... plus, if you do it at 5am or first thing in the morning you have all evening to play! My dad always worked out, and physical activity mattered in our family... whether it was playing basketball or tennis or swimming or running, we always had to be doing something, and I want that same mentality to transfer to Paisley.
What's your favorite part of bringing your kid(s) to the gym? That it's not frowned upon to leave your kid in the car at 5am. Haha! Other gyms would definitely call the police on me... lol, j/k!! I love that it's kid-friendly; my daughter has made so many friends at the gym and I know the kids she's met at the gym are awesome because their parents are awesome, too!
Why CrossFit Elevate? The people, period. I've never had such an awesome group of people around me like this. Plus, the coaches are amazing. They honestly care about each and every one of us, and they are really good at what they do.
