Now the nitty-gritty workout stuff…
When did you first try CrossFit/Bootcamp and what made you want to try it? January 2016, for one month at CrossFit Jenks in Oklahoma. They required 4 sessions (once per week) of CrossFit 101 to learn the basics. The following month, our family ended our temporary stay in Oklahoma and began moving our stuff from Alaska to Texas, so that was the extent of my CrossFit experience there. I decided to pick it up again in May 2016 at Elevate, but I didn’t last more than a week because I hadn’t adjusted to the HEAT! I picked it back up in July 2017 at Elevate again and I’ve been a regular ever since.
What makes you stick with CrossFit/Bootcamp? It’s rough and tough. It allows me to release aggression to maintain hormonal balance.
Favorite movement: Squats
Least favorite movement/something that’s hard for you: Wall Balls
What gets you through tough workouts? The people doing it with me.
What keeps you motivated? Knowing that I can be better and that change is realistic.
Proudest Elevate moment to date? Doing kipping pullups.
Hobbies outside of killing it at the gym: Playing softball and spending time with my family and friends.
Changes you’ve seen from working out at Elevate: I’ve lost 20 pounds!
How has CrossFit/Bootcamp helped you outside of the gym: It’s been a lifestyle change. Something clicked, and I now have a mind-body connection.
How do you balance working out with family life? I don’t balance it, I just include my family. We do it toether.
What’s your favorite part of bringing your kid(s) to the gym? Camden loves the chickens!!! I love that my son loves the gym atmosphere and only knows it as a normal part of our lifestyle.
Why CrossFit Elevate? 100% because of the people who workout there and the coaches who create accountability for how I manage myself to be better from the inside out.
