Let’s get to know YOU!
Name: Kristie Beach
Any nicknames? Reds, Big Red, Ginger
Hometown: Gibbstown, New Jersey
Profession: Stay at home mom, with a Masters in Behavioral Psychology (my mom is so proud)
Fitness Background: I’m late to the party. I didn’t really start working out consistently til I was in my late 20’s. Recently, I found myself living in Cairo, Egypt. Both my boys were in school full-time, and I had a lot of time on my hands. So, I started working out regularly, playing tennis, running and taking any aerobic class I could sign up for.
If you could have one super power, what would it be? To be able to speak any language, at any given time, fluently.
Who’s your real life super hero? Hmmm… I’ve pretty much admired Oprah since I was 15.
Describe yourself in one word: Fiesty
Most frequently used emoji? 😉
Now the nitty-gritty workout stuff…
When did you first try CrossFit/Bootcamp and what made you want to try it? I first started Crossfit in March 2017. I was living in Singapore and was dragged there by my girlfriend. I was overwhelmed by the movements and the work out lingo, and intimidated by the strength of the members. She was 48 and killing it! I wanted to be like her.
What makes you stick with CrossFit/Bootcamp? I love the camaraderie amongst the members. Every day presents new challenges. I find both Crossfit and Bootcamp to be very inclusive.
Favorite movement: Rowing is my jam… other than that, sled pushes.
Least favorite movement/something that’s hard for you: Besides making that dreaded run to Westheimer and, back... Twice? Box jumps.
What gets you through tough workouts? Honestly, good music. I can pretty much sing every word to every song. From all genres. If I’m singing along, I can distract my mind from the torture I’m putting it through.
What keeps you motivated? The fierceness and determination of the other girls at the box.
Proudest Elevate moment to date? Completing 18.1 with a fairly decent score.
Hobbies outside of killing it at the gym: Travel, spending time with my husband and kiddos, cooking classes, learning new languages.
Changes you’ve seen from working out at Elevate: To date, I’ve lost 15 lbs. I feel stronger and more flexible. Working out for me is just as much for my head as it is for my body… and my head has been less of a hot mess since joining Elevate.
How has CrossFit/Bootcamp helped you outside of the gym: When I work out, I feel better and gain more confidence. This continues to shape the rest of my day in a more positive way.
How do you balance working out with family life? This is easy. As I’m fortunate not to work, I can come every morning while the boys are in school.
Why CrossFit Elevate? To be honest, I Googled ‘crossfit boxes near me’ when I moved here in June. I was impressed with the positive reviews the community had received, as well as the positive feedback given to Luke’s teaching style. Based on that information and Luke’s immediate reply, I decided to give it a shot. I instantly clicked with both Liz and Angie during my first weeks at Bootcamp. And the rest is history!
